FTL: Faster Than Light
FTL: Faster Than Light is a great way to make time go by quick. This inde game, available on Steam, is a 2D above view space exploration/action game. It takes the user into a journey though sectors of space in a ship that’s customizable and upgradable to fight the attacking rebel fleet as well as evading the pursing forces that chases the user’s ship through each sector. The Crew
So in FTL, a crew is needed to run the ship’s many functions. A pilot and for most ships, an engine worker, are required for your ship to evade enemy fire and perform FTL jumps. Other stations that the crew can help out are shields and weapons. A teleporter can be installed that allows you to beam members of your crew aboard an enemy ship so that they can kill their personnel or disable their systems. Crew members gain experience in these roles, allowing shields and weapons to recharge faster, increased evasion rate, and quicker repair time on damaged systems. Also crew members can be unique alien species. Each have their own pros and cons, as well as a unique ability that helps your ship. The Ships Each ship comes with a unique room layout and default weapons as well as a few unique features. They can range from a beam cannon that fires on full charge through enemy shields, to cloaking devices that allow you to evade all enemy fire. Ships come with various layouts, each component room is positioned differently for each ship. Each ship has it’s own starting feature and weapon accompaniment based on a few default ships and unique alien ships. The Sectors Race across the sectors to the final showdown with the Rebel Flag ship. The journey is fairly straight forward. Pilot the ship across jump points until you reach the end of the sector and jump to the next. In each sector, various jump nodes are scattered about that will lead the ship across the expanse.
